How do you know if you are having a heart attack? If you are lucky you will feel the symptoms, for many this silent kill takes a life long before the symptoms are shown. It is known that a history of heart disease in your family increases your chance of having one, however it does not mean you will. If you are over weight, have high blood pressure, high colestrol and lead a sedentary lifestyle, you are in danger of having a heart attack.

Some symptoms of a heart attack are, pain in left arm, extreme pain in your chest, lower back pain, and pain in you legs. A heart attack is the leading killer in women today. The numbers exceed the death by cancer rate. It is alarming to know that medical professionals are telling us to be aware, and we still do nothing to improve our lives, and prevent a heart attack. A heart attack is when the arteries to your heart become clogged with plaque and stop the blood from reaching your heart.

Having a heart attack is a life changing event. It can either take your life from you or, it can force you to change your lifestyle in a heart beat. After a heart attack ( assuming you live through it) you will feel weak tired, and your emotional state will swing between thankful to be alive and bitterly question “why me?”

If your heart attack has left your heart with too much damage, or if your arteries are blocked you will need to have further procedures to remove the plaque. Once out of the hospital your life will have to change to prevent another heart attack. Once you have a heart attack it proven fact that you are prone to having another one in the next couple of years. You will be put on a strict low fat diet, and you will have to start an exercise program.
