STD stands for sexually transmitted diseases. If you have sex with someone who has an STD, you can get it, too. About 1 in 4 people have an STD. The more people you have sex with, the greater the chance that you will get an STD.

If you are having intercourse you are at risk of getting a STD. Being young is one thing, however we need to teach the younger generation, and some of the older ones that STD’s are a serious problem. There are many different types of STD’s out there. Every time you have sex with someone you are having sex with all the partner’s that person had sex with before you. You should note the fine print on the condom package, it clearly states that using one will aide in the prevention of pregnancy but will not aid in the protection of STD’s.

So you have had intercourse with someone that has an STD but did not tell you? Well it is time to go to see your doctor – now. Well it might take some time for you to start to show sign or symptoms of an STD, early detection is key to treating it. Some of the more common symptoms of STD’s are: abdominal pain or tenderness, bleeding from the vagina ( other than your period), blisters on your genital area, discharge from the vagina or penis, irritation in the genital area, itching in the genital area, painful intercourse, yellowing of skins and whites of your eyes. These are just a very few of a long list of symptoms of STD’s. This does not mean that if you have one of the above symptoms that you are infected, it does mean that you should consult your doctor if you are showing signs. Interesting to note is that statistics show that female’s contract more STD’s each year then men. Do not take chances with your health.
