We might not think of beauty therapy treatment as having similar goals as other treatment therapies, but it has the same intended outcomes as, say, physical therapy and occupational therapy do. The differences lie in the specifics: whereas occupational and other physical therapists might be focused on pain and stress alleviation and rehabilitation efforts, beauty therapy treatment emphasizes the outer physical welfare of a client, thereby still having specific goal that contribute to the betterment, maintenance, and/or overall mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well being of a person-through aesthetics.

For example, where a typical standard mission statement for accident rehabilitation might include two types of treatment goals-the functional outcome and the enabling goals-beauty therapy treatment is only "restorative" at skin level. So the outcome goals might be to moisture, balance Ph levels, and enhance skin elasticity in a client's face, and the enabling goals would include performing a specialized facial cleansing, facial peel, shallow tissue massage, and algae masque.

Rest assured, while the empirical and scientific studies may not seem as challenging for those working with beauty therapy treatments, beauty therapists and cosmetologists must undergo rigorous study sessions that include clinical, theoretical, and practical work. Therefore, cleansing, stimulating cell regeneration, and nourishing skin become just as important and technically challenging as other therapy treatments demand.

The goals, while of a different nature and aimed at different levels of physical need, require the same character--short term goals to cleanse and long term goals to rejuvenate and tighten, for instance, must still meet up to standards. In the case of beauty therapy treatment, such goals are expected to be reachable, must have positive results that positively affect the life of the client, and must be relevant and reflective of what the client needs, whether at a profound psychological or superficial physical level.
