The Foxkins Diamond Weight Management Program

Because of our long experience with the band, we are getting better weight loss results than anyone in the country as far as we have been able to determine.

At 3 years, our patients have experienced a weight loss of 72% of their excess weight, on average. But many of the patients get all the way down to normal, or near normal, weight. A significant number of our female patients get down to a size 9 or smaller.

Our recipe for success involves using a program that includes 3 interventions above and beyond the band. We call it “The Foxkins Diamond Weight Management Program.” This program is available to all patients experiencing weight plateau or regain, regardless of the bariatric procedure. “Diamond” refers to a baseball field (4 bases)—not a gemstone.

Home Plate

Home plate is getting the adjustable band put in and properly adjusted. That is the first intervention.

First Base

At first base an appetite suppressant is used. Often the patient is hungry after the band has been placed, but before it has been tightened (it usually takes 3-6 months to get it adjusted properly). We use Phentermine or Phendimetrazine, which relieve a patient’s hunger. Plus, these medications usually decrease carbohydrate cravings.

Second Base

At second base is the Foxkins Diet. It is a high protein, very low carbohydrate diet. We tell our patients, “If it moves, you can eat it (except for milk): If it doesn’t move, avoid it.” What moves? Any member of the animal kingdom. If it doesn’t move, it has roots. So anything from the plant kingdom is to be avoided: fruits, veggies, and grains. We recommend that patients stay on the Foxkins Diet until they reach goal weight, which usually takes only 9-12 months.

Third Base

Third base is the exercise intervention. We feel that aerobic exercise on a daily basis is important. It generates cardiovascular fitness, weight loss, and a sense of well being. We recommend Curves, Curves look-alikes, or anything aerobic done for at least 30 minutes per day.

Home Plate

if a person has attained their goal weight, he or she has hit a home run. Not everyone gets down to normal weight, but the program is designed to get them there if they are compliant and we strive to make it relatively easy for them.

The AGB is a very effective tool for long-term weight loss when used properly.
